Mission to Haiti
"During a week in May 2009, a group of volunteer missionaries from Nelson Memorial UMC traveled to Port-au-Prince Haiti to provide free heath care to people living in one of the inner city neighborhoods of this poor country. Members included Dr. Bob Koch, Cindy Koch, Anna Koch, Larry Long and Judy Long. Others joining the group were Becca Fish and Natasha Vander Weide. Within the free clinic, Dr. Bob, Judy Long and Becca Fish examined patients, Cindy Koch filled free prescriptions, and Larry Long prayed for each person as they left. Anna and Natasha taught the children about good health practices using our free “Healthy Living” coloring booklet that was given to each child. These children also received a free toothbrush. In addition, the medical team did routine exams for all of the students at Patti’s School which is associated with the House of Hope Christian girl’s orphanage."
